Nedumbassery: The Cochin International Airport Ltd has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident in which a passenger from Kuwait left the airport through the domestic arrival gate without undergoing Emigration and Customs clearance on Tuesday evening.
The CIAL MD S.Bharath told Express that strong action would be initiated against the concerned agency for committing serious security lapse.
Around 80 passengers had arrived on the Jet Airways flight from Kuwait at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Air India, the sole ground handling agency in the Cochin International Airport, had to provide transportation facilities to the passengers and their luggage from the aircraft to the international terminal arrival point.
But a few passengers were taken to the domestic terminal arrival point in the Air India Coach, instead of the international terminal point.
One passenger reportedly left the airport through domestic arrival gate without Emigration and Customs clearance which pointed to a very serious security lapse.
Various agencies like Special Branch, Intelligence Bureau, Air India and the CIAL have launched separate inquiry into the incident.
The Emigration wing in the airport has submitted a report of the incident to the higher authorities and to the Bureau of Emigration in New Delhi.
