Two AI cabin crew members suspended

Mumbai: Two senior cabin crew members from Air India (AI) were handed suspension letters, and two others asked for an explanation of their behaviour on Thursday after an altercation with the airline management, three days ago. The altercation, said sources, took place over the airline's allegation that the cabin crew was not depositing the entire amount earned from the sale of duty-free products on board.The four members, who are managerial staff, had met the airline management to protest against the allegation.
"They also discussed the issues concerning SC\ST staffers in the airline,'' he added.According to airline officials, members of AI cabin crew union were also miffed with the management for publishing the caste against the names of those who belonged to the SC\ST, in the airline's flight plan.
"Two cabin crew members have been suspended. They are part of the management cadre. They indulged in riotous, disorderly and indecent behaviour within the premises of the company during office hours. Their behaviour was unbecoming of the management cadre,'' said an AI spokesperson.
