Low-cost SpiceJet flights to trigger fare-war in Dhaka

Low-fare carrier SpiceJet is set to introduce flights to Bangladesh by June this year, as it received approval from the Indian government to fly overseas, officials said.
"We plan to introduce international flights from Kolkata to Dhaka, Colombo and Kathmandu by next June," Samyukth Sridharan, chief commercial officer of SpiceJet, told a press conference in Agartala Thursday, reports said.
SpiceJet introduced its first daily Kolkata-Agartala flight Thursday. The capital of Indian state of Tripura is the 19th destination on its domestic leg.
The Delhi-based airline received approval from the Indian Ministry for Civil Aviation to run international flights to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal from Kolkata by June .
