Kannur International Airport: tender process in place

Kannur: Kannur International Airport (KIAL) Ltd has floated Request for Qualification (RFQ) document to determine the eligible firms for the detailed designing, earthworks and concrete works of the proposed international airport in Mattannur in the district.
Though it was earlier decided that the tender would be called only for earthworks, it was later changed because in the previous pre-qualification tender for the earth works, nearly 25 companies, including some foreign companies, had expressed interest but it was found that only one company met the eligibility criterion. So in the fresh tender it was decided by the director board to float RFQ for the earth works and the concreting works of the airport so that all the works would go simultaneously.
The cost of the work is estimated to be around Rs 700 crore and the time period to complete the work is 30 months. The last date to submit tender is February 14.
