IX 812 air crash: Court takes cognizance of murder charge


Mangalore: In what could be termed as a significant decision for the victims of 2010 Mangalore IX 812 air crash, the JMFC II court here on Tuesday took cognizance of offense under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the private complaint of filed by 812 Foundation.
The private complaint alleged three government agencies and 12 officials as responsible for the Air India Express 812 crash of May 22, 2010 which claimed 158 lives.
The judge cited the Subramanian Swamy Vs Manmohan Singh verdict which states that if no decision is taken by the government regarding prosecuting a public servant after three months of request for sanction to prosecute, sanction will be deemed to have been granted.
