Centre to promote NE air connectivity


New Delhi: The Centre has ruled out the possibility of promoting low cost carriers for the North Eastern States. An initial No Objection Certificate has been given to North East Shuttle Private Limited to operate schedule air transport (regional) services in the region.
Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh said that the Ministry has engaged M/s Delloittee Touche Tohmatsu India Private Limited as a consultant to recommend measures for promoting regional and remote Area Air Connectivity in the country.
A Committee headed by joint Secretary Rohit Nandan to review the Civil Aviation Requirement on Regional Scheduled Operations (RSOP) has recommended identification of towns and cities for promoting air connectivity, revision of the Route Dispersal Guidelines and creation of Regional Air Connectivity Fund (RACF).
