Kalyanmayee programme urges society to look at women as humans

Nagpur:  The women's organisation of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Kalyanmayee organised a programme to mark Women's Day on March 8.
In her address as the chief guest, former mayor Kalpana Pande urged the society to look at women as normal human beings. "There is one perception of women as 'shakti', of her being the goddess and then there is this diametrically opposite perception of her being 'abla', who needs protection. She has to be taken care of, first by her father, then husband and finally her son. We don't want both these polar perception of ours. We just want us to be treated as human beings with their own identity," Pande said.
Taking cognizance of the issue of women's safety which has taken the nation by storm, airport director AK Verma said that more time needs to be put in to bring up children who would be well cultured and sensitive towards women.
