CCI to probe why Air India's can’t get FDI by foreign airlines

New Delhi: Air India (AI) employees have always complained that the Maharaja faces discrimination against private airlines from the government.
Now this grudge has got an official form.
In a significant move, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has admitted a complaint against the government's move to allow foreign airlines to invest in Indian carriers except AI.
The complainant, Delhi-based lawyer Ankit Jain, has said that such a move denies a level playing field to the national airline. A senior CCI official said, "The complainant has questioned this reported discrimination against AI and we are going to examine it."
In his petition, Ankit Jain has said that the government allowed foreign airlines to invest in Indian carriers as they are fund-starved and need not capital and expertise of the big global players.
