CIAL washes hands of minister’s missed flight

Kochi: The CIAL denied any role in Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal missing his flight to Delhi on Sunday.
In a statement, the CIAL said the airline alone was responsible for not allowing the minister to board flight number AI-047 from Kochi, even though the airline was informed in advance that he would be a passenger.  The flight was scheduled for departure at 8 pm, and the Minister had been issued a valid boarding pass.  “The Minister reached the airport a few minutes before the departure. The aircraft doors were closed and the Minister could not board. Repeated requests of Air India Duty Manager Annie to the Commander of the aircraft were not successful,” the statement stated.
