HC issues notice to government on parking zone at Biju Patnaik airport

Bhubaneswar: The harassment of public at the Biju Patnaik Airport parking zone has come under the judicial scanner with the Orissa High Court issuing notices to the Centre and State Government along with the Airport Authority of India.
Acting on a PIL filed by chief patron of Mahakalpada-Marshaghai Bikash Manch Trideeb Rout, a division bench comprising Chief Justice C Nagappan and Justice I Mohanty has issued notice to Secretary, Union Civil Aviation Ministry, Director General, and Director, Biju Patnaik Airport and the Commissioner of Police.
Trideeb submitted that passengers and public are subjected to severe harassment by the personnel of the private agency to which the parking lot has been outsourced. People are charged Rs 40 for four-wheelers and Rs  10 for two-wheelers for a stay of five minutes and more. Even though the people enter and leave the parking space much before the stipulated time, the attendants force them to pay.
