Man held for possessing forged passport

Goa: Police have arrested Pethadra Mohammed Ashraf, 35, from Mangalore on charges of allegedly carrying a forged passport. He was detained by the immigration officials at the Dabolim airport on Saturday on his arrival from Oman. On verification, it was found that his photograph was forged, the police said. They handed him over to the Vasco police who arrested him under the Passport Act.
Motorist booked for killing five cows: Ponda police have booked one Sarvesh Naik, resident of Adpoi-Ponda, for rash and negligent driving of his jeep on Wednesday night thereby killing five cows at Madel-Talaulim in Ponda. He was proceeding from Ponda to Adpoi on Wednesday night. Three animals died on-the-spot while two were seriously injured and later succumbed to their injuries. Naik was also injured in the mishap and after being discharged from hospital, police arrested him and released him on bail.
