Gurdwara committee delegation camps at Rome airport after security asks them to remove turban

Amritsar:  In order to maintain the sanctity of their turbans, a five-member delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) led by its president Manjit Singh GK refused to take off their turbans during security check at Rome airport on Tuesday.
The delegates also refused to board their scheduled flight to Dubai after security personnel insisted that they take off their turban. "For last almost 24 hours we are at the airport and will board a flight on Wednesday night but we will not take off our turbans," said GK, while talking to TOI over phone from Rome on Wednesday.
He informed that the representatives of all the 40 gurdwaras of Italy had approached them at the airport to show their support. The DSGMC delegation was on their way to Dubai after attending "International Sikh Dastar (Turban) Awareness Day" on August 3rd at Luna Park, Cremona, Italy.
