Medical emergency forces Jet flight to be diverted to Nagpur

Nagpur:  A medical emergency forced Kolkata - Mumbai Jet Airways flight number 9W 626 to be diverted to Nagpur on Monday morning. NanditaSinha, a 59-year-old leukaemia patient was travelling to Mumbai for treatment when she began to feel unwell and dizzy. She passed away after being treated in critical care for the entire day.
The airline immediately contacted the air traffic control (ATC) and their ground staff to make arrangements for medical emergency landing. The patient, who is a professor was travelling with her husband, Ajit Sinha, a retired Indian Oil senior official.
On sensing her condition to be serious, the woman was immediately taken to Orange City Hospital where she was first attended at the casualty and then shifted to critical care unit. Her blood pressure was very low which hampered effort to stabilize her. A CT scan could not be done because of her condition.
