SpiceJet flights may not start from Belgaum on I-day

Belgaum: People in the city will have to shelve their plans to fly to Mumbai or Goa from here as the Ministry of Civil Aviation is yet to permit SpiceJet to commence its services via Belgaum.
The domestic airline had proposed to start daily flights between Mumbai and Goa via Belgaum from August 15. Sugar Minister Prakash Hukkeri, representing Chikkodi-Sadalaga constituency in the district, and K N Shrivastava, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, had affirmed the same. However, chances of the flights taking off from Sambra on Independence Day are bleak as the local officials in Belgaum airport and officials of SpiceJet are yet to receive official communication in this regard.
On July 6, Shirivastava, in a release issued from New Delhi, had stated that SpiceJet would start its Mumbai-Goa flight on Independence Day.
Sambra Airport Manager Parvathy said that the airport authorities had not yet been informed about the new service.
