Tempers fly as snag grounds flight

Ahmedabad: Passengers of the Hyderabad and Chennai bound AI-982 Air India (AI) flight created ruckus at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport when they found themselves stranded after the aircraft developed a technical snag. The flight had come from Kuwait at 6am and was scheduled to leave Ahmedabad at 6:50am. It finally took off at 2:30pm, after a delay of more than 7 hours.
At the scheduled departure, as soon as the passengers took their seats in the aircraft, the pilot noticed weird sound coming from the plane. The engine was stopped and the airline officials checked it for an hour with passengers still in the plane.
"We were seated inside the plane for an hour and after that were asked to get down and go to the waiting lounge," said D A Jhala of GIDC.
