IndiGo slashes airfares; SpiceJet's Re 1 offer continues despite DGCA warning

Chennai: Close on the heels of SpiceJet's Re 1 offer, IndiGo airlines has slashed fares on domestic routes triggering another round of fare war among carriers.
IndiGo started special fare on Thursday for travel between July and September. It has not specified a deadline to book tickets.
Fares range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 2,000. A Chennai-Delhi ticket costs Rs 3,000 while Chennai-Bangalore and Chennai- Coimbatore tickets are priced at around Rs 2,000.
"This slashing of fares has come when SpiceJet sale is continuing in spite of warning from DGCA," said Prema Radhakrishnan of Emerald Airways.
SpiceJet is continuing to sell its low price tickets though Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked it to stop it. The airline has sent mails to its customers alerting them that the three-day sale will close at midnight on Thursday.
