SBI Caps puts Kingfisher Airline brand on the block over dues, sale bids invited

New Delhi: Kingfisher Airlines on Monday announced the resignation of three of its board members. The airline, which hasn't flown since October 2012, announced on Monday that three of the UB Group loyalists, Ravi Nedungadi, SR Gupte and MS Kapur, have resigned from the board of directors of the Kingfisher Airlines. The exit leaves the company's board with just Vijay Mallya, who is also the promoter of the airline.
Meanwhile, SBICAP Trustee Co has invited bids for selling Kingfisher Airlines brand name. SBICAP, acting on behalf of lenders, has floated an expression of interest from parties willing to buy the Kingfisher Airlines' trademarks.
The list of trademarks offered include "fly kingfisher" (label), "fly kingfisher", "flying models", "fly the good times", "funliner", "kingfisher" and "flying bird device". While the value of the trademark could not be ascertained immediately by ET, some five years ago, the "Kingfisher" brand was valued at .`3,000 crore by audit firm Grant Thornton.
