Summons to Mallya in Kingfisher TDS Case

Bangalore: In another setback to Vijay Mallya, the liquor baron was served a summons in the TDS (tax deduction at source) non-remittance case.
The Income Tax department had filed three cases over non-remittance of TDS by Mallya run Kingfisher Airlines (KfA) in the Special Economic Offences Court. The department will serve the summons by the way of affixing on the walls of the office of the now grounded carrier. KfA is currently facing multiple cases against the company for non payment of dues by banks, unsecured creditors, tax and airport authorities as well as employees.
KfA accumulated losses of over Rs 7,000 crore and was grounded in October 2012 over large scale cancellations due to protests by unpaid employees. The carrier subsequently lost their SOP (schedule operators permit) on December 31, 2012. The company has two years to renew their SOP but has been unable to submit an acceptable revival plan, according to aviation ministry.
