Mangalore International Airport (MIA) has proposed to carry out Haj operations this year. First phase of Haj operations will commence on August 27 and end on September 1. As per the flight schedule, Air India Express flights will commence operations from MIA to Medina daily at 3.15pm. Second phase of operations will commence on October 10 and conclude on October 14. Arrival time of phase II flights from Medina to MIA is 1pm.
J T Radhakrishna, director, Mangalore International Airport said added advantage for those undertaking Haj pilgrimage this year is the fact that A-320 type of aircraft will be used in the direct flight to Medina and passengers need not change aircraft like in the previous year where they had to go to Medina via Calicut. Airports Authority of India has made all arrangements for smooth and safe embarkation of Haj pilgrims from MIA.
