Union minister visits new airport terminal

Nashik:  Union road, transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday visited the new Ozar airport terminal building during his Nashik tour.

His visit to the airport terminal lasted around 20 minutes during which time he to spoke to officials of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and the public works department.

The airport terminal building was inaugurated four months ago, but not a single commercial flight has taken off from here. The terminal is yet to receive the security clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Nashik president of Builders Association of India Vilas Biriari, whose firm Harsh Constructions had won the PWD contract and constructed the airport terminal building, said, "The airport terminal building is ready, but it is yet to be operational. The issue of operation is now with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Airport Authority of India (AAI) Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) of the central government. All associations in the city, including BAI, are waiting for it to become operational as it would boost Nashik's growth. We had urged the Union minister to visit the new airport terminal building during his Nashik visit so that he could speed up the process."
