Bad weather hits seaplane trial landing at Gangapur

Nashik:  The trial landing of the proposed seaplane service between Juhu and Gangapur dam was postponed on Wednesday because of poor weather conditions in Mumbai. The maiden service of the seaplane began on Monday between Juhu in Mumbai and Pawana dam in Lonavala and will soon be extended to the backwaters of the Gangapur dam in Nashik.

"The inspection by the civil aviation ministry for the project is pending. Wednesday's landing was supposed to be the trial of the service," Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) managing director Jagdish Patil told TOI.

MTDC regional manager Pradnya Bade-Misal said the trail landing was postponed barely a couple of hours before the sea plane was supposed to take off from Juhu because of bad weather conditions. He, however, added that the trial landing would be done soon, but did not specify the date.
