Trichy: At least 139 passengers were stranded at the Trichy Airport after a Sri Lankan Airlines aircraft from Colombo was allegedly hit by a bird while landing in the city on Sunday.
The Airbus A320 flight with 80 passengers from Colombo was hit by a bird while landing at the Trichy Airport at 2pm on Sunday. The flight was scheduled to leave with 139 passengers at 3.30pm but was grounded following the bird-hit.
The flaps located above the propellers of the aircraft are believed to have been damaged by bird-hit.
An airline official said: "All the passengers have been offered accommodation in a nearby hotel and flight maintenance is underway."
