Daily discount schemes a hit: SpiceJet fills more seats than any other airline in August

New Delhi: The almost-daily fare discount schemes and an improved cabins seem to be working for SpiceJet, at least in terms of aircraft loads. For the third month in a row, SpiceJet has managed to fill more seats on its aircraft than any other domestic airline with August load factor at 82.5 percent. This means it managed to fill almost 8 in 10 seats.

In part, this is due to capacity reduction SpiceJet initiated earlier this year but the occupancy of its aircraft is ahead of every other airline also thanks to discounted tickets. This morning, it again announced an advance sale where tickets can be booked starting at Rs 699 one way, excluding applicable statutory taxes. This is lower than a third AC class train fare, and reason enough for people to rush in with bookings - the only catch is that the fare excludes taxes and that tickets sold under this scheme are non-refundable and cannot be amended.
