‘Visa on arrival at Dabolim not for another 6 months’

Panaji: The visa on arrival (VoA) facility at Dabolim airport is unlikely to begin in the next six months.
Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju conveyed this to deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza and Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) president Francisco de Braganca in New Delhi recently.
Just two weeks ago, Goa tourism department had claimed that the VoA facility will be implemented at Dabolim airport next month.
Braganca told TOI that during a meeting with Rijiju and ministry of home affairs (MHA) officials they were told that MHA is not yet ready to start VoA facility at Dabolim airport as a lot of spade work needs to be done. It came to light that MHA does not want to hurry with the VoA facility as it involves national security.
