Trichy: Immigration authorities at the international airport here caught more than 2 kilograms of gold from four passengers on Saturday night, estimated to be worth crores of rupees.
The passengers were reportedly attempting to smuggle the gold by hiding it inside toners and cartridges of printers. They had been carrying identical parcels, put in gift boxes. The officials found cartridges and toners when they opened the boxes during a routine check. However, closer inspection that gold bars were sealed inside it.
