GoAir flight lacks first aid kit, family grounded after insect bites them

New Delhi: A Delhi-based family faced an unpleasant experience aboard a GoAir flight when some of its members were bitten by an insect and had to bear the pain for more than two hours due to lack of first-aid.

The absence of a first-aid kit meant that three family members, including an 18-month-old infant, could not be administered even primary medical treatment.

Ruchi Verma along with her four family members had boarded the Delhi-bound GoAir flight, G8-186, around 4 pm at Jammu on November 8. As soon as the flight took off, her brother Pawan noticed the insect and tried to shoo it away.

"But the insect bit on his neck, finger and forearm. Soon, the bitten part swelled up and Pawan was writhing in pain," Ruchi claimed.

More trouble was in store as the insect bit her and Pawan's infant son, she added.

The family called crew members and sought medical aid from them. However, they were told that there was no first-aid kit aboard the flight.
