Margao: Firing yet another salvo against the state government over the proposed Mopa airport, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday pointed out that the airport has been conceptualized without access and thus smacked of a scam.
Addressing mediapersons, Sardesai said that the government, "either for political reasons or to save certain highly-placed land owners" allowed Sec IV of the Land Acquisition Act for the re-aligned access to the airport to be lapsed, as the new land acquisition law rendered the cost of the acquisition quite prohibitive.
In a bid to resolve the issue, Sardesai said the government contemplated construction of a 6km long flyover from the national highway to the airport by just obtaining NOCs from the landowners for constructing pillars for the purpose.
