Peeved with AI, CM takes IndiGo to Delhi

Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressed extreme displeasure at the 'cancellation' of an Air India flight to New Delhi on Sunday evening. Peeved with the national carrier's 'inept' service, she departed on a flight operated by private carrier IndiGo. She travelled to the Capital on Congress president Sonia Gandhi's invitation to attend the 125th birth centenary of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

AI has been in the news recently for a string of delays and rescheduling of flights owing to crew shortage.

Mamata and her team arrived at Kolkata airport around 4.15pm, in time to catch flight AI 701 scheduled to depart at 5.30pm, only to be told that the flight had been rescheduled to 8.15pm. A peeved CM then remonstrated with the AI staff, pointing out that cancellation of the flight booked a week in advance amounted to harassment.
