SMC to demolish all cow sheds from 10 km area of airport

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation ( SMC) has issued notices to 19 owners of the cowsheds located within 10 km area of the Surat airport. All 19 cowsheds would be demolished once the notice period expires.

After the buffalo episode that took place in Surat airport some 20 days ago, the illegal cow sheds have come in focus. After a buffalo hit an aircraft which was taking off on the runway of Surat airport, resulting in private airline cancelling all its flights flying to and from Surat, local administration on its part has become active to rectify the image of the city.

Four days ago, five such cowsheds located in Vesu area of the city were demolished. However, the allegations which were laid on the officials said that they were not bothered about the airport but were taking this chance to demolish those cow sheds that are located nearby the plum lands of some developers.
