Gold valued at Rs 16.5 lakh seized at Mangalore airport

Mangaluru: On a tip off given by the immigration authorities of Mangalore International Airport, the officers of Customs intercepted a lady passenger and seized from her possession, gold ornaments weighing 749.900 grams valued at Rs.16.49 lakh brought by her in a concealed manner.

The gold ornaments packed in two rectangular shaped packets wrapped in adhesive tape, were found concealed in the waist portion underneath the denim jeans trousers worn by her inside her burka.

The passenger, identified as Nazneen Banu Mahfooz Qureshi, 41, is a resident of Mumbai having address at Room No.21, 3rd Floor, 166, Bunder Building, J.B. Shah Marg, Khadak, Mumbai-400009. She arrived at Mangalore International Airport on Friday at 8.30am by Air India Express flight No.IX814 from Dubai
