Now, fly to Hyderabad 13 minutes faster

Mumbai: The travel time between Mumbai and Hyderabad is expected to get shorter by 13 minutes as air traffic navigation team is currently conducting a feasibility audit to cut short the distance by over 140 odd km. The new route is likely to be implemented within a month's time. The Delhi-Hyderabad, Ahmedabad-Hyderabad routes too are likely to benefit due to the re-routing, the AAI officials said.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI), which operates majority of the civil aviation airports in India, is also mandated with providing air navigation services to the airlines operating in the Indian airspace, in other words, deciding the flight path.

The AAI insiders credit the development to better and improved air traffic services (ATS) surveillance coverage with the installation of additional radars/automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) ground receivers, data link clearance for departure and other accompanying aviation technology for seamless, safe and efficient aircraft movement.
