Park, memorial for air crash victims soon: DC

Mangaluru: "A park and a memorial will soon be constructed for the victims of the Air India flight which crashed at Mangalore Airport in May 2010. They will come up near the Kulur bridge leading to Tannirbavi," said A B Ibrahim, deputy commissioner.
He was addressing a meeting held in the presence of Mangalore International Airport (MIA) director J T Radhakrishna, former MIA director M R Vasudev, New Mangalore Port Trust(NMPT) officials, Uday N Kumar, ACP (traffic) on Wednesday December 3 at DC's office here.
Ibrahim said that the park will be developed on 43 cents of land by the state administration, NMPT, Air India, and Airports Authority, and Mangalore City Corporation will look after its maintenance.
"The memorial will be designed like a Boeing aircraft and built in the middle of the park, and the victims' names will be embossed on it." he said
He also directed the officials to finalise the proposal for the park within the next 5-6 months so that there will not be any further delay in realizing the project.
