Chartered accountant molests Air India staff on board

New Delhi: A 58-year-old Chartered Accountant has been arrested for allegedly molesting an Air India airhostess on board a flight from Delhi to Amritsar on Thursday night.

The airhostess lodged a formal police complaint on landing in Amritsar.

According to the police, Natrajan Bhavani Shankar, who holds a senior managerial post in a power project firm in Punjab's Tarn Taran, asked the airhostess to serve him something to eat 30 minutes after take-off.

She reportedly told him to wait for two minutes as she was serving food and drinks to other passengers. At this, the accused reportedly held her hand and tried to stop her. Other passengers had to intervene to stop any further harassment of the crew member.

Police said the medical report of the accused found no trace of alcohol in his blood.

"When Shankar molested the victim, other passengers intervened and later the flight commander was informed about the matter. The flight commander informed the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) which informed the CISF at the Amritsar airport. Around 11 pm, after the flight landed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, CISF officials and the local police arrested the accused," an airport official said.
In another case of crime against a woman, the Delhi police arrested a 34-year-old senior official working in the cargo terminal of the Delhi airport on Tuesday. He is accused of thrashing and molesting a woman for not accepting his friend request on a social media platform.
