Laxity in services: Panel directs Jet Airways to compensate consumer

Indore: After a battle of nearly two years, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum directed Jet Airways (India) Ltd to compensate a passenger for providing poor services.

Ravindra Singh Chhabra, a 42-year-old businessman, and a resident of South Tukoganj, had to take a Jet Airways flight from Delhi to Chhatarpur via Khajuraho, to attend a court hearing on February 3, 2013.

When the businessman reached the airport, to his dismay, officials informed him that the Khujaraho-bound flight was over-booked and that they could not allow more passengers in. Despite Chhabra's request to allow him board the flight, authorities turned a deaf ear to his plight. They provided him with a boarding pass at 10.30 am of the same flight, but told him that the check-in counter was closed and he had to carry his luggage as hand baggage.
