Two passengers shove AI employee, injuring her

Ahmedabad: The behaviour of unruly passengers is a cause of concern for most airlines in the country. In a shocking incident, two foreign guests of a leading corporate house from the state, who were in a hurry to catch their flight to Delhi, misbehaved, pushed and injured an Air India ground staffer. The men, who had come to the city to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, were stopped from boarding their flight. They were allowed to leave after the company's representatives intervened and the men submitted a letter of apology. The incident took place last Friday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Aditi Patel (name changed) was serving as Air India's ground staff. "Two foreign passengers came rushing to the international airport and tried to bypass the airline counter where Aditi was checking everyone's boarding passes. Instead of showing their documents to Aditi, the duo — who was running late — tried to rush to the runway to board the aircraft," said an airport source who witnessed the incident. The source further said, "Aditi stopped them for their boarding passes but they refused to pay heed to her. They shoved her and Aditi fell and injured her left leg.

She was taken to a nearby cabin even as other staff members detained the ill-mannered passengers. She was in tears as she recollected the incident to Air India officials. "The passengers created a lot of ruckus for not being allowed to board the plane. They were the guests of a leading corporate house here and had come to attend the Vibrant Gujarat summit. They finally called someone from the company who came here and pacified Air India officials and the injured girl." The matter was referred to Sardarnagar police station but the girl refused to file a complaint.
