Nagpur: Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has received an inquiry from a Malaysia-based aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) depot for acquiring land in the
Mihan-SEZ.
The inquiry came from a government agency in the country, but the offer is still in a very initial stage, with formal negotiations yet to begin, said Tanaji Satre, vice-chairman of MADC.
The MRO needs around 50 acres of land. If the deal materializes, the facility may be as big as the one built by
Boeing, said a source involved in the case.
With this, there are chances that the SEZ in Mihan may emerge as a hub of MROs. Boeing has already finished construction work and handed over the MRO to Air India for running it. Air India
itself is planning a separate set up for landing gear next to the MRO.
