Separate structure for cargo at airport

Trichy: To protect and stock the goods meant for export, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has began construction of a huge canopy in front of the cargo complex at the Trichy International Airport. A sum of Rs 50 lakh has been allocated by the AAI for the project.

With the construction having begun 15 days ago, airport authorities have set a target of three months to finish the work. Authorities are confident that the project could be completed earlier as work is moving at a steady pace.

Exporters for long have been complaining that perishable goods stocked at the airport go waste due to the absence of any facility for protecting them.
