Air Vistara to start Delhi flights in Sept

BHUBANESWAR: Air Vistara, a new domestic carrier, will start operations from the Biju Patnaik International Airport from September. It will fly from here to New Delhi, airport sources said. Vistara has already carried out a pre-feasibility study.

A delegation also met the airport director on July 9 in connection with the schedules. "We will have another scheduled flight to Delhi. After Vistara's operation, there will be eight daily flights to the national capital. The airline is yet to submit its schedule," said director Sharad Kumar.

Official sources said the Vistara plane has 138 seats -- 16 for business class, 36 for premium economy and 96 for economy. "Like GoAir, Vistara is also likely to offer cheap air fares to passengers. Earlier, the airline had obtained flying approval from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)," Kumar added.

Air Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Sons Limited and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA). In September, Vistara procured its first Airbus A320-200 single aisle aircraft. The specialty of the aircraft is less burning of aviation fuel.
