Mock drill tests response system at airport

Tiruchi: A mock bomb threat contingency and building evacuation drill was carried out at the international airport here on Tuesday to test the efficacy of different agencies while responding to emergency situation.

All agencies connected with the airport such as Airports Authority of India, Central Industrial Security Force, Bomb Detection and Disposal squad (BDDS) of the City Police, Customs, Immigration, and various airlines were involved in the mock exercise that lasted nearly two hours in the evening.

Airport sources said the mock drill commenced after the receipt of a “bomb threat message” in an aircraft and in the building with all agencies sounded an alert thereafter.
