Aera takes Dial fees fight to SC

The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority of India (Aera) has petitioned the Supreme Court for vacating a Delhi High Court order that allows the GMR-led Delhi International Airport (Dial) to collect airport fees fixed earlier, while staying a planned cut in aeronautical charges by 78 per cent for Indira Gandhi International airport.

The apex court has directed the parties concerned to respond within three weeks.

“The airport regulator wants to implement the proposed reduction in aeronautical charges. Aera has filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. It has argued that the move would benefit air passengers. As a result of lower airport charges, airfares would fall,” an aviation official told Financial Chronicle.
