All flights take-off before time after shifting to T2

Mumbai: Seven out of 12 Air India flights took off before time on Thursday morning, bolstering the national carrier's image as it shifted its domestic operations completely to Mumbai airport's integrated terminal - T2 at Sahar.

While flights took off between three to six minutes early, there were passengers who gathered at the checkin counters claiming they had missed their flights. Airline officials, however, informed those passengers that they had reached after the counters had closed.

Though the new arrangement involving a 10 minute long walk takes passengers longer to reach the boarding gates, nobody complained. "The enhanced experience is a welcome change," said Ritu Goyal, a passenger headed to Hyderabad.

Air India's new chairman-managing-director, Ashwani Lohani, said, "We have moved our entire operations under one roof, which is a much more efficient way of handling transfers and provide the best experience to our passengers. It is a great beginning for us at the new terminal and our people are charged up and excited. We will look to make Mumbai a second hub for Air India."
