Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport have seized about 1.4 kg of gold bars worth over Rs 36 lakh from a passenger who arrived here from Dubai.
The passenger, identified as Sulaiman Mohammed, belonging to Kasaragod in Kerala was arrested, a customs press release here said today.
After examination of his baggage, an unusually heavy voltage converter was found in his bag. Three gold bars coated with silver paint were concealed in coil portion of the voltage converter.
