Maharashtra acquires 60 acres from PDKV for airport

Akola:  Decks have been cleared for the much-awaited expansion (extension) of Akola airport near Seoni village on Akola Murtizapur road (NH-6) as the ownership of 60 acres has been transferred from Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) to the state government, informed Sanjay Khadse, subdivisional officer (revenue), Akola.
He said the land was acquired on Thursday. District collector G Shrikant had ordered the land posssesion for the airport last month.

Confirming the development, PDKV registrar Prakash Kadu said the university received a government letter last week stating that the collector would be acquiring the land. In compensation, government will give PDKV 76 hectares at another place, added Kadu.
