Pilot fined for trying to illegally sneak in gadget

Kozhikode: Air customs intelligence officials of the Karipur airport slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on an IndiGo airlines pilot for trying to sneak in electronic equipment which was stashed in a cavity inside the cockpit.
Customs seized a Bluetooth recorder from the flight which arrived at the airport from Dubai at 10 am on Sunday. The onward journey of the flight to Mumbai was delayed by one and a half hours due to the seizure. According to customs officials, an airline staff can bring in only bring personal items like toiletries worth Rs 1,500 and the Bluetooth recorder was valued at over Rs 15,000."
What is of more concern is that goods concealed inside the aircraft can be taken out of the airport easily as the international flight was to proceed to Mumbai as a domestic flight and there is no customs check for domestic flights," an official said.
